Outdoor Audio Systems for Patios, Pools, and Gardens

Outdoor audio brings music to the parts of your yard where you relax, gather, and spend time with family. A discreet outdoor speaker system uses small landscape speakers placed among planting and around the listening area, along with a buried subwoofer that adds bass. Thoughtful speaker placement helps spread sound coverage evenly, so you can enjoy your playlist without relying on one loud box in the corner of the patio.

For a standard residential project, we plan backyard audio around one shared listening zone. Patio speakers, pool speakers, and garden speakers are positioned to blend into the landscape and serve the spaces you actually use. Outdoor audio is a natural complement to landscape lighting: lighting helps shape the setting after dark, while music adds another layer to outdoor living. Caldren Outdoor Lighting designs and installs these systems for homes in Ocoee and Central Florida, with the layout and next steps discussed during an audio consultation.

How an Outdoor Audio System Works

A series of wired landscape speakers is placed around the listening area and aimed inward toward the property. A buried subwoofer supplies the lower notes, while the layout helps keep sound coverage balanced across your chosen space.

Your phone controls the system through compatible music apps and Wi-Fi. Bluetooth is another way some audio equipment receives music, but it does not make landscape speakers wireless and is not a feature of every amplifier.

The amplifier sits in a protected, ventilated, accessible location so it can be operated and serviced. Our standard residential outdoor audio projects use one zone, with the same music playing throughout that listening area.

Where Outdoor Audio Works Best

Outdoor audio can serve the places where you already spend time outside:

  • Patios
  • Pool areas
  • Outdoor kitchens
  • Garden seating
  • Fire-pit areas

We currently offer standard residential, single-zone projects only. The consultation defines one shared listening area and its sound coverage.

Our Process

  1. Consultation and listening-area walkthroughWe discuss how you use the space and walk through the area where you want to hear music. We also review access, available power, and the proposed location for audio equipment.
  2. Design and speaker placement planWe plan the landscape speakers, buried subwoofer, cable routes, and amplifier location around one residential listening zone. Speaker placement is aimed inward toward the property and coordinated with the landscape.
  3. InstallationBefore digging, we arrange Sunshine 811 locate requests and identify existing lighting cables, private water lines, and other private lines with the homeowner. Utility marking does not cover all private lines, so their routes must be identified before cable burial.
  4. Configuration and sound check with the homeownerWe configure the agreed controls and check the speakers, subwoofer, and sound coverage with you. Together, we review operation and a comfortable listening level for the area.
  5. Ongoing supportWe explain how to use the system and how to contact us for ongoing support. If your network changes or you need help with operation, tell us what changed so we can discuss the next steps.

Outdoor Audio FAQs

What is outdoor audio?

Outdoor audio is a speaker system designed for listening in outdoor living spaces. Landscape speakers and a buried subwoofer work together to distribute music across a planned listening area.

How is it different from a portable speaker?

A portable speaker plays from one location and moves with you. A landscape audio system uses several wired speakers positioned around the listening area to provide more even coverage without depending on one loud spot.

Will speakers be visible in the yard?

Landscape speakers are low-profile and can blend into planting, but they are not completely invisible. The subwoofer body is buried, with its sound opening kept above ground and clear of obstructions.

Does it work with my phone/music apps?

You can control a compatible system from your phone using supported music apps. We discuss the apps you use and confirm the equipment’s connection options before installation.

What happens if I change my Wi-Fi router or password?

The system may need to be reconnected to your network through its control app. Contact us with the details of what changed so we can discuss the next steps for restoring operation.

Can audio be added to an existing lighting system?

Outdoor audio can be planned alongside an existing landscape lighting system after a property assessment. We review the layout and available cable routes, then plan separate audio equipment and wiring.
